Gordon Bull
Gordon is Managing Director of Learning Forte Limited, a new consultancy aimed at supporting businesses to use learning and learning technologies as a business improvement tool. “Learning is so much more than running a few courses” says Gordon. “Designed properly the learning function can be a strategic business improvement process, driving revenues and reducing costs.”
Gordon was formerly Director of Global Learning Management for Vodafone, the world’s largest mobile phone operator. He established Vodafone’s virtual corporate university, the Vodafone Global Campus in 2002 serving 65,000 employees in 18 countries. He has also pioneered innovative learning solutions for Vodafone’s channel partners and customers.
He has 28 years learning and development experience and served in five colleges of further education, rising to the post of Principal and Chief Executive, which he held for 7½ years, before returning to the commercial sector. He has served on various national committees including the FEFC Inclusive Learning National Advisory Group, the FEFC Distributed, Open and Distance Learning Advisory Group and the QCA Special Education Needs Co-ordination Group. He also served on the former Department for Education and Employment Special Education Needs Committee, which produced the 'Excellence for All' Green Paper.
Gordon has long been regarded as a pioneer in learning and has held a number of learning related directorships, including the e-Business National Training Organisation, and is a former Chairman of the Southern Regional Council for Education and Training. He is currently a Council Member of the Learning and Skills Council for Berkshire and also Chair of the Audit Committee. He has presented at many national and international conferences on many topics relating to learning, learning technologies and aligning learning to boost business performance.
