Donating your furniture during a move in Toronto

Sarah Robinson

No matter how hard we try, we end up holding onto things we don’t need. It’s human nature. But there comes a point (ie: before a move) when you just have to get rid of stuff. After all, it doesn’t make sense to pay to move things you aren’t going to use.

It’s hard enough just trying to decide what needs to go, but then you have to actually find a way to get rid of it. You could try to sell it online, but then you’ll have to deal with strangers stopping by at odd hours of the day to pick stuff up. You don’t want to just throw away pieces that still have some life left in them either. Donating these items is ideal, but when you’re faced with having to rent a truck to drop it off yourself, it’s not super convenient for most people.

That’s why You Move Me has partnered with Furniture Bank; to make finding a home for your furniture easier and much more rewarding.

Furniture Bank helps families in need by providing them furniture, free of charge. Since 1998, furniture donations like yours have helped over 80,000 previously homeless or displaced individuals and families create homes of their very own. As long as it’s in good condition, we’ll take it!

When you book a move with You Move Me, we’ll move your belongings to your new home and then transfer any gently used, quality housewares and furniture you wish to donate directly to Furniture Bank. This amazing service will only cost you $100! At the end of your move, you’ll get a tax receipt in the amount of the fair market value of your donated items. And, of course, your move will cost less overall, since you’ll be moving less stuff! It’s a great way to help families in need, while also helping make your move stress-free.
